We were driving outside the city and came across this abandoned property with Wisteria  flowing like water falls over the trees and scrubs. It was lovely to behold!

Our Grocer had some fruit for sale we have never seen before. We tried it and we like it! It has the texture and feel of Kiwi , the skin of a peach and the taste of something mild and sweet. The pit/seeds inside are unique as well, clusters of three or four nuts.
It is the beginning of Crotone's Holiday of the year. It is just Crotone that celebrates this week. The lights, we are told, go up three times a year now , Christmas and in Aug? The Lights, light the way to carry  a statue of Mary. The lights go all the way down to the sea. Yes it does look like Vegas, but they have been doing this much longer than Vegas has been around.

This is the main Piazza so if you think of a 'L' shape the long part is the street that goes down to the sea, the corner of the 'L' is the piazza you are looking at now.

This the short part of the 'L' headed to the Duomo (main cathedral)
At the very end of the 'L' is the Duomo and in the framed case is a Statue of Mary. This Mary has a history of being burned, then lost at sea, found and yet she remains undamaged.
To celebrate this miracle the statue is carried ( Pulled by ox in a cart) out to the oldest chapel, out at Hera's temple , 7 miles away and then brought back to this chapel by sea. The streets light the way for the 1 am starting time, next Sunday, to carry it out to it's original location and then the streets light the way the statue will return at the docks back up to the Duomo. Between us and the statues are hundreds of people, maybe thousands, the piazza in front of the Duomo was filled. We took the photo towards the end of the street.( Some big generators were powering the lights in the piazza!)
