The taller mountain is mount Vesuvius. Italy is full of Volcanos. One of the couple missionaries said from their hilltop city they live in they can see 5 volcanos out in the sea, there are 7 total in that area.
We did catch the train home and had a good experience, we have a better feel for the travel the missionaries do a lot of. Travel is stressful, it does not matter how you do it. You just have to sit back at times and trust in the Lord, because that is all that you can do.We missed all the scenery on our night trip and found this side of the country does a lot of hot house farming. We have mostly olives groves , vineyard and wheat in Crotone.
The beauty of the sea, "Mare" mar-ray=sea.
Another tiny island off the coast but no castle on this one. We had a bit of excitement at the station before our last one. There were 7 tracks and we were to leave on track 6. We took our belongs out to the last platform and were waiting for the train. We were then told it would be late which meant we would likely miss the last leg of our trip. President B decided to walk down through the subway to the other side and check with the clerk about our connection. While he is gone this Lady walks up and asks if this was the Crotone train I said si and she then went off in Italian so fast I had to put up my hands a tell her "non capiso". She said 'change' and pointed to her luggage and and to the entrance. I understood and she took off. She came back and pointed to the entrance and said UNO. Platform 1 was now our track. Well still no Carl, so I waved her good bye. She got over to the platform and of course you can see all the platforms. Some announcement comes over the loud speaker, si - NON Capiso. The lady starts waving her arms and showing me to come. I gather all our stuff and haul in down the stairs across to platform 1 and carry it back up out of the subway. STILL no Carl. The train has pulled in and is sitting there, no Carl. I decide to wait, remembering the promise of comfort from morning prayers, and then Presidente B walks around the corner.
He had been waiting to talk to the clerk , but also helping travelers trying to get tickets from the new machines. ( which were a bit tricky.) All's well that ends well. We stepped up on the train.
The Italians love bridges, and tunnels. With the hills and mountains there has to be a way to even it out.
Our last connection was also late so no worries we made it to Crotone. The suitcases are still rolling!
With all the stress at least the scenery is beautiful and calming!
