Our Sorella Olga  has left us and has returned to Heavenly Father and  her Husband, she has missed him for 50+ years. She had a short illness less than a week and she was gone-- It has been a shock to all involved. In Italy they publish a notice of the Death on all the family's homes and her home.
She had a lovely service, and she would have been pleased.
As in life, in death it is like apartment living. Each square holds a casket.

Our Olga will get her marble front  later, but for now this is her home.
The flowers were on her casket.
Sorella Olga lived a good life and remained true and faithful up to the very end!  She is home and happy!
Most everyone had left and I can see why our Mission President likes to visit the cemeteries in Italy. Each box has pictures of the departed and something about them.

This was a tiny area where graves as we know them were.
This is  a different part of the cemetery smaller and narrower.
But for now --Farewell Olga. "God be With You 'til We Meet Again"

Back on the home front.
Our street is getting new curbs and sidewalks. I had to show the new white marble curbs being put in!
The next round of figs are ripe. They seem to have a different varieties that ripen at different times. This will be the third batch we have seen, about every 3 to 4 weeks. They spoil very fast so you pick and eat or can in one or two days. They cannot be put on top of each other, they just get smashed, they are very soft.

Our famous 3 wheeling trucks!  They were the truck of choice in the mountains. They were mostly what we saw up there. These are pictures back here in Crotone and they are still the truck of choice. They have a motorcycle engine.
 There goes another one
And look at how much they will haul! The blue is the back of one.
Our last DDM together before we send off some more great missionaries!

7 am send off for Sorella Puzey! She has been hard working and a joy!
THE ONLY TIME I have been at the train station and could go take some pictures of Missionaries getting on and off. My job is to guard luggage while other help get missionaries on or off the train, There are 2 trains coming and going from Rome and to Rome which arrive with in few minutes of each other, so it has always been a mad rush. With the early departure of Sorella Puzey there was no rush.

Our new Greenies fresh from the MTC , Hailing from Rhode Island and Germany!
Tradition has it we all go out for Gelato on the first day!
Don't mess with an Italian Barber. Presidente B asked for his hair to not be cut so short this time.
He come home with his shortest cut yet!!!

On our way to the second home, guest cabin.
 This is the main home.

There about 1 and 1/2 to 2 acres for their homes.
 The kitchen.

Front sitting room. There are also 4 bedrooms in this cabin.

This is a painting of her son.

Time to say good bye. There is no phone service up at her home so she was VERY SURPRISED to see us. We told her we would come, but she had no idea when. This was Tuesday that we traveled to see her.

Today is Saturday. We just returned from a visit with Angela's Sister Olga and Olga told us that a home Angela has in the south was broken into and every item of furniture, supplies, and artwork, was completely taken. She has nothing left in that house.  She will have to leave the end of September from her mountain home, because no one will be up there to help her. She is very far away from any stores and transportation, and the snow will be on it's way. She will have to determine what she will do about her southern home.

We are calling this JOHN'S TOWN   "Saint John in Flower" is it's name and you can see it on the next picture, We are looking down on the town, to get to it we had to drive down the mountain we are on and up to the next mountain it is on!

Evidence of the steep terrain and landslides.

This is what the town of Saint John's Flowers looked like.
The next member we visited was another hour and a half away in the mountains. Angela's mountain homes. You saw her  in her Crotone home a while back.
She had trouble with the windows so Presidente B helped out.

She has 4 bedroom in this cabin as she calls it, this room reminded me of the old farm house on Shiloh, with low ceilings. We could not stand up until we got to the point of the ceiling and then we touched it with our heads.
We are headed to see the other cabin. Interesting fireplace ornament, a stuffed fox!

We headed back up to the mountains to find a member once again. She has been in Japan for a couple of months and was suppose to be back. The trip takes a couple of hours drive, just because it is mountain switch backs, up and down.
The ravins are very steep and the picture below showed the roads we traveled to get there.

That is a city on the ridge of that range which is not unusual, it is just incredible!
As I was taking the pictures, the goats were have a good look as well! They are surrounded by pear trees, I was standing under one on the top of the hill where the pictures were taken from.
We got back to the Location of the lost member and she was in Roma being a translator so missed her again. It was her birthday and we dropped off our token gift, A fan with the Roma Temple on it. We visited with her son and daughter and husband. Her daughter spoke English , so we got to hear about all the work she does for Documentaries for Japan. As she was talking I thought this woman would love reading the Book of Mormon. We placed a Book of Mormon. She is off to do another film but we will follow up.

When we were here in May the water was much higher--- the end of the summer is showing!

Most of the cows we see are white, or light grey with long Texas style horns. This is a young calf, the mother is hiding in the bushes but you can hear her--- She is wearing a cow bell!
