We got to visit a member for the first time and we noticed her table. She covered it with her favorite people and things from magazines-- mirror to match-- it turned out very nice and so cleverly done.

 We found this self-serve car wash! It was awesome. With no garage and thousands of swallows, keeping a car clean is a daily task.

 One of the people we teach had a book signing and so we went. He is in the light blue jacket.
He wrote the introduction for this mans book but he will have a book published shortly as well.

 I came across this brush with these interesting flowers. The bud is like a gourd , pear shaped and then splits open and bursts out with the tissue like blossom. The pedals are dry like tissue paper and almost transparent. The bud is thick and hard like an orange rind. 

 Here are some of the granite mountains we drove along on our way home. We think they were granite.

 There is a tiny light blue point in the center of the picture and that is the Island of Capri. For the movies duffs, we were just north of the highway that was used in the movies "Only You" I tried to capture a tiny bit of the breathe taking scenery, but no ---no way to take it all in.

 Note the tunnels, it would be an interesting trivia to know how many tunnels there are in Italy- we seem to go through hundreds!

 We followed this granite(?) for miles and miles!

 This was awesome to see, the sea mist roll up the mountain. We did not spend the night in Pompeii area, just drove on home and this was around 8pm.

One of those favorite sights in Italy, signs stacked up with names and directions. This time we went in the direction they were all pointing!

 This is from our return trip from Rome , we stopped by to see the ruins by Pompeii. We went to a place that was preserved much better. Recommended by Sorella Waddoups

 The city we drive through had waves in the sidewalks, each city has their own design on the sidewalks, they designs just the main roads. Those are square pegs of black and white marble

 Just to show the difference this is Crotone's sidewalks yellow lined brick-- so we have made it to OZ!

 This is the entrance to the City of Herculaneum. 

 Some of the roofs you see  are new, they help protect the ruins from the weather.

 We arrived one minute past the closing time and they would not sell us tickets so we will have to go back. but what you can see were pictures taken from a walkway that over looks the city.

 This gives an idea of how high we are and how much volcanic material is still down there.

 Mount Vesuvius spilled out back in 79 A.D. and covered Pompeii and other cities, one of which is Herculaneum. The city was covered by meters of ash and sealed so completely that organic material survived. Much of the city is still under ash today. The area is famous for their tomatoes, they say the ash in the soil lends a richer taste.

Yep more of their sidewalks. I just can't believe the time , cost, and endless man hours it takes to make these sidewalks!

 I didn't think to take pictures of the place we had the conference at. It was a Hotel/ chapel/ conference place, I think owned by the Catholic Church. We were instructed and up lifted. We have different challenges as seniors and getting some instructions on paper work and other issues was very helpful. We also got ideas about what is working in some of the other areas. We went back to the Villa for dinner. The Mission Home was just a few blocks away. The Sisters served us and the Elders and Sister cleaned up. It was great to see some of the ones we have worked again.

 After Dinner we walked to the Gelato ( Ice Cream). Part of our instruction was to get a minimum of 30 minutes of walking time in per day! Which is easy for us to do but not as easy for some of the other jobs on the mission. We came across these beautiful vines. I have never seen these flowers, but there are so many flowers that are new to me here. 

 We rather overwhelmed the Gelato place and it was in high demand at 8pm in evening. Many of the people of Roma and Crotone go out for gelato at about that time and then eat dinner at 9!

 We went back to the Villa and had our last good byes for the evening and a few photos which as you can see are not too great.

 We spent the next morning in meetings and met at the Villa for Lunch

 We then had another photo op before everyone headed out.Brother Calabresi is on the front roll visiting with a sister. He has been serving at the Mission office for 17 years as a volunteer. He deals with all the bills and landlords and any other business that gets a little sticky. He is Italian and a Patriarch. The office really runs wonderfully well because he has so many connections and because of his dedication.

  President Waddoups and Sorella Waddoups had a 24 hour time slot that they could have this conference--- That is how tight their schedule is. After we all left at 3 they started on the next conference at 4 which they have repeated endlessly! The Waddoups are just amazing!

We went and picked up the rest of the church materials we needed from the office and headed back to Crotone!
